The response of pea plants to ultraviolet B radiation and cytokinin

چکیده

Aim. The effect of chronic ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation and cytokinin benzylaminopurine (6-BAP) on the growth, content photosynthetic pigments hydrogen peroxide (HP) in leaves pea plants (Pisum sativum L.) was studied. Methods. Pea cultivar Gotivsky were irradiated by UV-B at a dose 3.5 kJ/m2 per day during 5 days. Groups non-irradiated treated with 6-BAP after end radiation. Length shoots roots measured all time experiment. Content HP determined Results. It shown that plant growth delayed, reduced, increased plants. stabilized treatment 6-BAP. Conclusions. caused inhibition increasing content, decreasing mature leaves. BAP stimulated restoration

Response of terrestrial microorganisms to ultraviolet-B radiation in ecosystems.

Recent studies suggest that ultraviolet-B radiation, a major component of global climate change, can affect the community structure, biomass and functioning of terrestrial microorganisms. In this report, these studies are reviewed and gaps in our understanding highlighted so that future research can provide more conclusive evidence on the mechanisms and wider ecological implications of the impa...

Response of purely symbiotic and NO3-fed nodulated plants of Lupinus luteus and Vicia atropurpurea to ultraviolet-B radiation.

The effects of elevated UV-B radiation on growth, symbiotic function and concentration of metabolites were assessed in purely symbiotic and NO3-fed nodulated plants of Lupinus luteus and Vicia atropurpurea grown outdoors either on tables under supplemental UV-B radiation or in chambers covered with different types of plexi-glass to attenuate solar ultraviolet radiation. Moderately and highly el...

Ultraviolet Radiation and Plants: Burning Questions.

Plants use sunlight for photosynthesis and, as a consequence, are exposed to the ultraviolet (UV) radiation that is present in sunlight. UV radiation is generally divided into three classes: UV-C, UV-6, and UV-A. The UV-C region of the UV spectrum includes wavelengths below 280 nm; these highly energetic wavelengths are effectively absorbed by ozone in the stratosphere and, thus, are not presen...
